Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille in a Shootout to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now secured the prestigious trophy on fourteen different times.

The Parisian giants needed a dramatic equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to get past Marseille in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions seemed to be sailing towards a comfortable win in the showdown between the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele found the net early on.

Yet, the southern French side struck two times in the closing moments to take a surprise lead. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking twist of fortune, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a vital equaliser in the dying moments to force the contest into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving decisive kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for PSG to complete a convincing penalty victory.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the twelfth time in the past 13 years.
